Get geared for the trails by following our easy steps to correctly cleaning and caring for your hydration bladder. Not only will you expand the lifespan of your product, you'll also ensure safe, hygienic use to keep you sufficiently hydrated on the mountain paths.
What you’ll need:
- Hydration bladder cleaning kit or soft-bristle toothbrush
- Dishwashing liquid or cleaning tablets
Step1: Fill the hydration bladder with warm water. Add cleaning tablets or dishwashing liquid and shake thoroughly for several minutes. Take care to fill water all the way to the drink tube. Leave the hydration bladder to soak for 5-10 minutes.
Step2: Drain the soapy water from the bladder and fill with clean, warm water. Add some more droplets of the dishwashing liquid and use the brushes from the hydration bladder cleaning kit, or a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub the inside of the bladder to get extra dirt and grime off. Use the mouth cleaning brush to thoroughly clean the mouthpiece of your hydration bladder. Drain the water and take care to focus on the mouthpiece to remove any excess soap.
Step3: Use the hydration bladder drying rack to prop the bladder open to dry. If you don’t have a bladder cleaning kit, you can use a kitchen whisk. Leave to dry and ensure that no moisture is left in the bag to avoid build up of mould and other bacteria. Store your hydration bladder in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
