Over time, waterproof jackets will lose their resilience, allowing water to penetrate through the jackets surface. Good news, by cleaning and re-waterproofing your rainwear jacket, your jacket will be ready to go again.
TIPS FOR CLEAINING YOUR RAIN JACKET:
Remove excess dirt: Clean dirt and crud off the jackets surface. Dirt has the ability to attract water, covering the water-repellent coating - causing the jackets surface to absorb water.
Close zippers and check pockets: Before placing jacket into the wash, ensure all zippers and Velcro straps are closed, as well as the elastic tensions loosened. Check all pockets for any adventure memorabilia, which you may have left behind.
Check wash care label: Refer to the wash care label for manufactures instruction on best practice for washing the jacket.
Use Nikwax Tech Wash: Using normal household detergents in your wash can cause a jacket to deteriorate over time. The Nikwax Tech Wash, a technical cleaner designed for wet weather clothing and equipment, revives breathability and re-stores the water-repellency of your jacket.
Place your jacket in the tumble dryer on a low heat for 15 minute intervals. Please note this process can take up to 40 minutes.
HOW TO USE NIKWAX TECH WASH:
- Remove all detergent build-up from the detergent dispenser
- Place items in washing machine (maximum 2 items)
- Use 100 – 150ml of Nikwax Tech Wash for 1-2 items. Add to the detergent dispenser.
- Wash jacket according to wash care label.
